Summary Of My Progress Through Week 18

I did not, unfortunately, hit my weekly physical fitness target this week.

I was out on a run on Tuesday and Thursday.

My back was not in good shape so I decided to put off Sunday’s run.

Introduced some dynamic warmup stretches before and after each of my runs.

More on this below in the physical activity section.

This week I also re-started listening to one of my very favourite books on emotions;

  • Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender By: David R. Hawkins.

I am sure I will doubtless learn much more listening to it the second time round.

Apart from starting all over with reading Letting Go:

I have put up my breakdown of monthly expenditure on a spreadsheet on our fridge door.

I will use this to work out and try to eliminate any excesses or plan for any unexpected monthly expenses.

Along with updates on my financial fitness:

My Cypress learning continues this week on how to handle selecting options from a static or dynamic dropdown.

My Cypress learning is slow but I try to keep it going.

Read or Listen

I have started all over again listening to Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender By: David R. Hawkins.

Letting Go is a very long book, ten hours and thirty six minutes listening time.

Time aside, I think I have missed certain bits of knowledge which I should have picked up on.

So I go back to pick up from the start.

I have already referenced this book a few times in my reports.

This time round I will concentrate fully on researching and learning about emotions from this book.

Physical Activity

I have settled into two runs per week for now.

My goal of running a marathon before the end of March 2022 is still alive.

I gave myself to the end of August to be comfortable running a half marathon distance.

There is a about month and a half to go hopefully I can get to this mini goal.

I have introduced dynamic warmup stretches to do before and after each run.

These dynamic warmup stretches include;

  • Side Lunge
  • Modified Single-Leg Deadlift
  • Straight-Leg Lateral Swing
  • Bent-Knee Lateral Swing

Hopefully this helps with getting me doing more runs in the coming weeks.

I love running at midnight but will probably have to also run at other times of the day to get more run time under my belt per week.

I also look forward to getting some core workouts going alongside my stretching routine.

Meditation And Prayer

We continue with our meditation and prayer sessions in the morning and before bed.

I also looked into getting a course off Udemy on Mindfulness.

This will probably have to wait until I can fit it into my day.

Dealing with our emotions as and when they come up is very important.

This could be negative or positive emotions.

The worst thing we can do is suppress, repress or escape our emotions.

We can all use tools like meditation, mindfulness, prayer and giving gratitude to better handle our emotions.

Financial Fitness

I have started tracking our monthly expenses for a spreadsheet.

This spreadsheet activity all sounds straightforward but for the unexpected expenses that come in nearly every month.

It all comes down to tracking and dealing with unexpected monthly expenditures.

As mentioned, I have the monthly expenditures spreadsheet on the fridge door so it’s visible to me and my wife.

This way we both know how to plan out monthly spending better and are always on the same page.

Conclusion

This week has seen steady progress around the core body, mind and soul aspects of my journey.

We would all love to be doing much more in all areas of our lives.

However, real life experiences show us every day unplanned activities come up that derail our best plans.

Every plan has to be flexible to deal with any unforeseen activity.

The key is not to stress yourself out if you are not meeting your goals.

Focus on the long term and put your best foot forward each day.

Best foot forward in executing what you can each day.

Before you know it, your goal will have been achieved although it might not be within the located or targeted period.

However, you are still a success for successfully completing your planned tasks.

Many Thanks and Stay Blessed.

As always, if you are following along with your own personal growth plan, wishing you awesome progress in week 19.
