Summary Of My Progress Through Week 21

First day of the week.

Monday 19th of July, and temperature is 22 degrees centigrade at half past six in the evening.

A backward step with my physical fitness.

Only a single run this week.

Not going to get too hang up on this as things looked more promising as the week went on.

Also our financial fitness is proving to be more changeling.

However, every little step forward helps and we continue to strive for improvement.

I keep learning but I need to take some action too.

There is a strategy out there which goes along the lines of ‘pay yourself first’:

I will look into paying myself first each month before any other money starts moving out of my account.

With this basic amount I plan to look into some saving options.

I really need to start making saving a habit, as the professionals put it.

This amount might be a little to start with.

I will review it monthly and as, hopefully, things change for us financially this amount for investing will increase.

Back to learning Cypress however this video's have not made it onto my channel yet.

Read or Listen

I picked up my go-to book this week which is centred around emotional literacy.

Letting Go: The Pathway of Surrender By D.R. Hawkins.

As I listened he mentioned the origin of our thoughts come from our early training from our parents, family and teachers.

And we also pick up bits of information from play mates, movies, newspapers, TV, radio, church, books — these all go on to form some of our thoughts.

This resonates with what Echart Tole has to say about thoughts.

Which is, many of our thoughts are not our individual thoughts.

They come from a collective mind.

We all connect to a universal mind and it moves through us.

For example, anger is anger in the collective mind but it attaches itself to different stories in our individual minds.

To start with we are all free of thought.

Thoughts from whatever source (collective Mind) take possession of us and become absorbed into our minds (Individual Minds)

Our true power comes with the awareness that we are initially free from thought.

Stop yourself from being run by patterns from the collective mind, cosmic collective patterns and external mental patterns.

Physical Activity

This week I was back at a single 5 km run.

It turns out if I do not get my run time earlier on in the week it becomes harder to get the time later.

Friday and Saturday nights are off limits — only on rare occasions.

The thing with holistic development is that no aspect of your journey should get neglected for too long.

I definitely have to shine the light on my physical fitness in the coming month and stay consistent with my minimum weekly run target of three runs.

Some positive news with my lower back pain as I have begun to engage in dynamic stretches instead of static stretches before my runs.

Hopefully this will prove beneficial towards giving me more mobility and endurance as I continue my running experience.

Meditation And Prayer

I circle back to this book now.

Not sure if I have mentioned it here.

The Book of Secrets: 112 Meditations to Discover the Mystery Within by Osho.

It might be time I took a deep dive into all the 112 meditation types in Osho’s book and experience each one.

I still prefer Naval Ravikant’s take on meditation which he describes as — The art of doing nothing.

This is how I always practise meditation: by sitting in silence and doing nothing.

At the moment it’s not a daily hour session as Naval Ravikant suggests.

My two wee boys and myself practise having five minute sessions in the morning and at bed time.

However, I must widen my knowledge on meditation and explore other forms of practice.

No better place to start than Osho’s Book.

Financial Fitness

I continue on my journey to financial literacy.

The first step to financial literacy is keeping track of what comes in and what goes out each month.

Income and expenses for short.

This is still very challenging for me as into the sixth month of my holistic personal journey and I still find it difficult sticking to a budget.

We will get there but still grapple with unexpected expenditures during the month.

The monthly budget sheet is up on the fridge door but these expenses still push costs out.

It only went up not long so there is still hope this exercise helps us stick to our fixed monthly budget plan

Conclusion

My physical fitness took a backward step this week.

Next month is when I take on my physical fitness mid year challenge.

To run half a marathon distance by the end of August.

At this point it’s looking like a big ask.

I have not been able to put in my target weekly runs for some months now, no excuses.

At the moment my physical fitness is a concern and this is mostly down to my lower back pain.

I might be settling in my comfort zone and using my back issues as a get out clause.

End of August will definitely call me out on this.

Many Thanks and Stay Blessed.
