Summary Of My Progress Through Week 7

Time flies as they say, especially if you are tracking your progress weekly, as I am throughout my year of planned personal growth.

I uploaded a couple of videos this week around pain points faced in my code practice journey so far.

The conclusion to teaching myself Serenity BBD with Cucumber, Selenium, and JUnit still outstanding due to technical blockers.

However, I am getting a few of my colleagues with years of automation experience to help me out.

Again, they are also busy individuals which makes it a waiting game.

When you educate yourself you are only exposed to knowledge through your sources.

But as you learn, practice, and troubleshoot issues you get a deeper and broader knowledge on each topic.

It is looking likely that Automation testing with Cypress will be next up for me.

I need to align my personal development with my professional development so as not to get into the situation of being pulled in opposite directions.

My running outings still stand at once a week.

From next week on I will be in full swing looking to get back to the form I was in just before winter set in.

I am still counting the pennies when it comes to financial fitness.

Previous bad financial decision coming back to haunt me just now.

We are on the route to put this right.

Through my prayer and meditation, I become centred, focused, and less stressed.

It’s not just prayer and meditation but the follow through with meaningful and positive action in all areas of my life.

Results will follow.

Read or Listen

This week I read a lot about personal development.

I came across this article on LinkedIn which suggests treating your learning as a project.

Personal development is active learning and learning with a purpose is advised.

For the year ahead I am actively learning with the purpose of upskilling myself within my day job.

I am treating my upskilling as a project and it’s a holistic one.

I will go further and say my personal development is about living consciously.

Working on a daily plan to consciously develop each aspect of your life as a whole.

A complete person developmental process.

Physical Activity

Last week I said watch this space.

Still in the RED.

One run managed this week

By end of May I have set myself the target of comfortably running 10km.

Focus is on fitness not timings.

Meditation And Prayer

Prayer is soothing to the soul.

Meditation is soothing to the mind.

They are similar but also different in certain ways.

Prayer is surrendering to God, letting go of that which you do not understand completely and have no control of.

Meditation is seeking peace and enlightenment from within.

Financial Fitness

As previously mentioned I plan educating myself to become investment savvy.

An element of my development plan for this year is for it to lead towards increasing my income.

At the end of my growth project I will evaluate the above.

It should reflect an increased income, increased savings and an investment pot.

Conclusion

I might have to pivot with my learning.

Conscious of time slipping by and still not having got to the bottom of sorting out my test automation framework issues.

I have learnt Cucumber BDD and Serenity as stand alone frameworks.

The final plan was to bring together those two frameworks into a hybrid of Cucumber With Serenity Framework.

This blog and practice video will probably have to wait in the background while I push ahead with learning another automation Tool.

I will be looking into sorting the framework issue in the background and will write on it and put up my code practice video once that is done.

Many Thanks and Stay Blessed.

As always, if you are following along with your own personal growth plan, wishing you awesome progress in week 8.
